22 January 2024, MTC – By order of the Office of the Prime Minister No. 010/GPM/I/2024, published in the Jornal da República, Eng. Flávio Cardoso Neves was appointed Acting President of the ANC, replacing Mr João Olívio Freitas, whose term had ended.
ANC managers and staff welcomed the Acting President, Eng. Flávio Cardoso Neves, who then held a meeting with managers, staff and advisers in the ANC meeting room.
At the meeting, the outgoing President, Mr João Olívio Freitas, speaking as former President and Board member, welcomed the Acting President and offered to cooperate so that ANC keeps running well in this first month and the Acting President can do his job. "Some things we have done and some things are not yet done, and we are still ready to help."
The outgoing President asked all staff to work well with the Acting President to help ANC grow. He will also prepare a handover report for the Acting President. He said ANC must be transparent so nothing is hidden that could harm the new President's work: all staff must be transparent, professional, helpful, supportive and cooperative, and must not bring personal matters into their professional work, because that can harm the institution.
The Acting President, Eng. Flávio Cardoso Neves, said: "I appreciate the warm welcome this morning. First, I appreciate the work of the outgoing President and his whole team. Thanks to your contribution, ANC is running well. I have come only to strengthen the ANC team so we support each other. We come from different places but with one goal: to move ANC forward. ANC is the regulator of the operators working in the telecom sector. To secure ANC's future we need a strong, united team to develop the sector, and we still need the outgoing President's help on the many tasks ahead."
He added: "As Acting President, I am here to contribute, a little or a lot, and to work together, because ANC belongs to everyone, and the biggest interest is the national interest."
