Dili, 9 December 2025 – The Acting President and Technical Administrator of the ANC, Mr Novelino dos Santos, took part in a panel discussion of the Click Smart for Youth programme at the IOB hall, Fomento, Dili.
Click Smart for Youth is an initiative supported by the United States Government. It aims to give young people digital-literacy knowledge and skills, especially to deal with the challenges of the digital age.
In the discussion, the Acting President said ANC, as national regulator, must make sure communication services are safe, legal and inclusive and that digital consumers' rights are protected. This mandate is a base for helping the new generation become critical digital users, responsible content creators and digital citizens who are aware of cybersecurity.
Other panel speakers were the MTC Chief of Staff and Principal Adviser Mr José da Costa; Director Maria Filomeno Babo, representing H.E. Elvina Sousa Carvalho (SEII); and Mr Alexandre Pires (ChildFund).
The event was opened by the representative of the US Ambassador, Ms Shine Wann-Cortes, and attended by the Rector of the Institute of Business (IOB), Dr Pedro Barreto Ximenes, and Vice-Rector I, Mr Vasio Sarmento Soares.
