ANC Technical Administrator closes the Ethical Hacking Fundamentals training
Dili, 14 February 2025 – The Technical Administrator of the ANC Board, Mr Novelino dos Santos, closed the Ethical Hacking training. The training covered the key principles of ethical hacking and the basic ideas of information security. It was held for IT technical professionals at the Correios Hall, Kintal Ki'ik. Mr Novelino dos Santos thanked everyone who took part, especially state institutions, civil society and academics, who all help, directly or indirectly, to build cyber capacity in Timor-Leste. He gave special thanks to the trainers, Ms Rizky Amelia Dumiyati, Ms Lita Riyanti, Mr Yan Maraden and Mr Hamdan Abdul Aziz: "Your knowledge and dedication have greatly improved our understanding of ethical hacking and cybersecurity. Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge and experience!" ANC also values its cooperation with JICA on human-resource development, which gives an important platform for continuous learning in cybersecurity. During the four-day training, participants learned about: the principles of ethical hacking; identifying cybersecurity threats; putting security controls in information systems; hacking methods and vulnerability assessment; network and web security; and penetration testing and reducing risk. The practical lessons showed that what was learned is not only theory but can be used directly in real situations. Mr Novelino dos Santos stressed: "Cybersecurity must not be underestimated! As representatives of government, civil society and academia, you are on the front line of strengthening information security. What you learned in this workshop will be an important base for identifying threats, putting prevention measures in place, and growing a culture of cybersecurity awareness to keep watch over our systems."
