Jakarta, 13 February 2025 – The Head of the ANC Inspection Section, Mr Pio Clemente Tilman Soares, took part in the seminar "The ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific (AOIP) Seminar Series: Submarine Cable" in Jakarta, Indonesia. The seminar aimed to build a secure, diverse and resilient submarine cable network for regional and global connectivity, in coordination with the relevant ASEAN sector bodies, by recognising and strengthening good practice and information-sharing frameworks to make it easier to deploy, repair, maintain, remove and protect submarine cables between ASEAN Member States. It also focused on the key issues and challenges facing policy makers and the private sector, and explored greater regional cooperation to improve the management and protection of submarine cables. ASEAN Member States took part, including Laos, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and Timor-Leste.
