Dili, 23 June 2025 – The Chairman of the ANC, Mr Flávio Cardoso Neves, with the General Coordinator for Administration, Mr Adelino Pires Amaral, the Technical Coordinator, Mr Natalino Maia, and the Head of the Regulation Section, Eng. Norberto Soares, handed registration certificates to two Internet Service Providers (ISPs), Lorotel Solutions Unipessoal, Lda and Eleonor, Lda, at the ANC meeting room in Caicoli.
At the meeting, Mr Flávio Cardoso Neves said that registering these two ISPs is an important step, because it adds two more ISPs in Timor-Leste to the 16 that already existed.
“We all know that until now ANC had issued registration certificates to 16 ISPs, and today we add two more, so there are now 18 ISPs in Timor-Leste. Not all of them are operating yet; some have not started. With these two new ISPs, the telecom sector can change”, Sr. 𝘍𝘭á𝘷𝘪𝘰 𝘊𝘢𝘳𝘥𝘰𝘴𝘰 𝘐𝘯𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘢.
The ANC Chairman told the ISPs that the registration certificate is the first step, and they can now move on to the next steps.
“Today you have received your registration certificate. This is the first step to move on to the next steps, and you will need other licences when you want to use technical equipment such as spectrum."
The telecom sector in Timor-Leste is changing a lot, because Starlink has arrived and the fibre-optic cable from Australia to Timor-Leste is almost finished.
“We know that Starlink has now arrived, and the fibre-optic cable that the Government invested in, from Australia to Timor-Leste, is almost finished and just waiting to start operating. So more ISPs will help complete telecom services and contribute to the development of our country”, Sr. 𝘍𝘭á𝘷𝘪𝘰 𝘊𝘢𝘳𝘥𝘰𝘴𝘰 𝘢𝘬𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘢.
